Braslav District of Belarus, Hajnowka County of Poland to develop rural territories

VITEBSK, 13 June (BelTA) – The Braslav District Executive Committee, Vitebsk Oblast of Belarus and Hajnowka County, Podlaskie Voivodship of Poland intend to cooperate in economic and cultural affairs. A protocol of intent has been signed by top executives of the administrations of Braslav District and Hajnowka County, representatives of the Ideology Department of the Braslav District Executive Committee told BelTA. The sides have reached an agreement to create the necessary conditions for distributing and enhancing trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation and to promote business contacts. The encouragement of the creation of joint ventures, company branches and representations on mutually beneficial terms will be one of the key avenues of cooperation. The two administrations will also focus on developing rural areas and interaction between national and cultural communities. BelTA has been told that the protocol of intent would be used later to sign a cooperation agreement. The Braslav District Executive Committee has signed such agreements with eleven administrative units of Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania and Latvia. For instance, the partnership with Lithuanian and Latvian sides has resulted in the foundation of private companies involving Latvian and Lithuanian founders. The company Madara has been set up with assistance of Latvian capital and intends to invest ?150,000 this year in building a compact enterprise to produce concrete and mortar. The privately owned enterprise EvaTur is ready to invest ?100,000 in setting up a motorway service outlet. A Lithuanian businessman is a founder of the company.
