Vitebsk hosts exhibition of Russian artists

VITEBSK, 8 June (BelTA) – An exhibition of Russian artists opened in the Vitebsk Modern Art Center on 8 June, BelTA learnt from this cultural establishment. The exhibition has been prepared and brought to the Belarusian city by People’s Artist of Russia, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Arts, Professor of the Smolensk State University Gennady Namerovsky within the relations established between Vitebsk and Smolensk painters. Authors of 70 works displayed in Vitebsk are painters from different regions of Russia as well as former USSR states. The exposition gives an opportunity to get familiar with the works of young artists of the period (Gennady Namerovsky, Anatoly Popov, Bagrat Asatryan, others). Later on many of them were presented with different titles and state awards, became prize winners at prestigious contests. The exhibition will stay open till 20 June.
