Vitebsk to host First Arts Festival of Belarusians of the World in July

MINSK, 6 May (BelTA) – The Culture Ministry of Belarus is gearing up for the First Arts Festival of the Belarusians of the World at the 20th International Arts Festival Slavonic Bazaar in Vitebsk, BelTA learnt from spokeswoman for the Culture Ministry Anna Smolskaya. Culture Minister Pavel Latushko met with the representatives of civil organizations, Belarusian-language media and Belarusian Diaspora from Poland, Latvia, Estonia, Ukraine and Georgia to inform them on the preparations to the festival slated for 8-9 July 2011. In addition, the Belarusians from abroad will take part in other projects to be carried out in Minsk. These will be exhibitions by artists and photographers, meetings with writers living abroad. According to Anna Smolskaya, Pavel Latushko and representatives of the Belarusian Diaspora discussed prospects of cooperation in culture and more active participation of representatives of the Belarusian diaspora in the cultural life of Belarus. In addition, the Belarusians abroad were informed about the state program “The Belarusians in the world” for 2011-2015 which is currently in the pipeline, the current state and development of culture in the country, plans to open cultural centers of Belarus abroad in 2011-2015.
